The future is not frightening. It is unknown.

I am an ordinary 50-year-old television worker. Instead of fearing what AI will change, I decided to explore it.

This is my experiment.

Human + AI

Neither side did this alone.

HUMAN

  • Experience
  • Ideas
  • Problems
  • Questions
  • Judgment
  • Curiosity

AI

  • Research
  • Coding
  • Prototyping
  • Testing
  • Iteration
  • Ideas

I know what problem I want to solve. AI helps me explore how it can be solved.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. Then we start again.

The experiment is the collaboration. The tools are the results.

We didn’t start with a finished product.

We started with questions.

Results

So what happened?

I started with real problems, not product ideas.

AI helped me explore what could be done about them.

Extensions

REAL PROBLEM When I am tired or not paying attention, I can send the wrong email, copy the wrong phone number, or open a dangerous link.

HUMAN + AI I wanted something that would give me peace of mind and check for me.

RESULT Extensions check whether a phone, link or email has already been used by me or by others — whether it is known as safe, or marked as dangerous.

SENDi!

Send once. Continue if needed.

REAL PROBLEM Sometimes I just want to send something to someone, without that automatically creating a lasting connection.
Sometimes I forget that I promised to get something done.

HUMAN + AI I wanted communication and tasks in one place — a message with two lives: “read”, and if I set a task, “done”. Try it yourself — I find it quite handy ;)

RESULT SENDi! lets you send a photo, file, link, text or voice — once, without a required lasting connection.
If needed, the conversation can continue.
And ! turns something into a reminder or a task — for me, or for everyone, around the content itself.

AVP

REAL PROBLEM While I listen to music, a concert, a podcast or a programme, I sometimes want to see one exact moment of the event without interrupting the sound of the story.

HUMAN + AI I wanted to steer picture and sound independently of each other.

RESULT AVP lets me watch what I need from the same file, and keep listening to what I want — or the other way around — without losing the story, the melody, or the meaning.

Transcribe

REAL PROBLEM When I have a recording of an interview, a lecture, an event, or just a long piece of audio, I often need all of it — or only a part of what was said — as text.

HUMAN + AI I wanted to put a file into the system, or record, and get the text out.

RESULT Transcribe turns the recording into text that can be read, searched and used.

Illustrate

REAL PROBLEM In television and at events, someone is often speaking, and at the same time the right picture has to be shown.

HUMAN + AI I wanted the system to understand what is being said and help show the picture that belongs — instead of a person searching and lining everything up by hand.

RESULT Illustrate listens, understands, and shows a fitting picture for what is said — to ease broadcast, television or event work, following the laws of editing, without you even needing to have heard of them.

Show Maker is still in development.

Show Maker

REAL PROBLEM Professional television production needs a lot of equipment, people and knowledge that an ordinary person does not have.

HUMAN + AI I started asking whether professional behaviour could be translated into the language of an ordinary user — and whether multi-million equipment could be reduced to a few phones with no software to install on them, and a laptop with no software to install on it either.

RESULT Show Maker is trying to make that possible — for a businessperson or an employee, for someone organising an event, or for a parent who wants a decent broadcast of a child’s celebration.
Phones can become cameras, the laptop a director’s place, and professional logic can become reachable for an ordinary person.

One problem led to another question.

Process

See how the collaboration works

HUMAN

“I have a problem.”

AI

“Let’s see what we can do.”

HUMAN

“That doesn’t solve my problem because…”

AI

“Let’s change it.”

HUMAN + AI

“Try again.”

RESULT

Working prototype.

The first answer is rarely the final one. The important part is continuing to work on the problem.

This was not my job.

I did not quit my work to do this.

I did not hire a development team to build it.

I am financing the experiment myself and developing it in my spare time.

I am doing it because I want to stay curious, learn and adapt.

I don’t want to downgrade because the world is changing. I want to upgrade with it.

Evidence

These tools are not the experiment.

They are the evidence of it.

These are the first results.

The six above came first. Everything else here is more of the same experiment — other questions, other tries.

Who started this?

I am a 50-year-old television worker with more than 25 years of experience in television, people, cameras, stories and live production.

I am not a programmer.

I am simply trying to understand what happens when experience, curiosity and AI work together.

The experiment is not finished.

I don’t know what comes next.

Maybe another problem. Maybe another idea. Maybe something completely different.

That’s the point.

What could you build with AI if you had the time to try?

Have an idea?

Tell me about a problem you would like to solve.

Maybe the next experiment starts with your problem.
